telehealth

Dormont Psych Services now offers TeleHealth
  What is TeleHealth?
Telehealth today encompasses a broad definition of digital and internet technologies that enable health care services to connect multiple users in different locations.

Dormont Psych Services offers telehealth with voice and/or camera options through Doxy.me (and perhaps other sites if needed).

This means that we are able to communicate via video, similar to a Skype or FaceTime chat as we practice social distancing.

Payment for telehealth may require prior approval, but at this time most all insurance companies not only allow, but are encouraging the use of this type of medium to help slow/stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. If you would feel more comfortable, feel free to check with your insurance company to be sure services would be covered. The best way to do this is to go to the insurance company website or call the number on the back of most cards.

Getting started online: While it is recommended that you use a laptop or conventional personal computer, it isn't necessary as smart cell phones will work also. If this is your first time using telehealth for a scheduled appointment with me, you may want to check out the site before our scheduled time. You may also want to verify your voice and video are working properly. See below.

A few things that may help:

  • Google Chrome is recommended on Android operating system smart phones, but Firefox will work on computers as well.
  • You will need to allow your browser access to the camera and microphone.
  • It may help to close all other applications during our session so that we can have the best video and audio quality.
  • Sometimes it helps to turn your volume down if there is an echo.

  • This link will show you how to check in to the waiting room YouTube Video which will open a new window for you.
  • You can also check and test your system out by using this Tokbox Site which will open a new window for you. Click on "Run Test"

Be aware that this is new to many people and there are more and more people getting online. There may be glitches, but don't worry, we will figure something out.

Let's get started with our time together::
When you are ready, click the link below. You can enter to the "waiting room" early, just know that I likely won't be able to get started with you before our scheduled time, so feel free to hang out and wait.

Let me know if you have questions by emailing me at Dormontpsychservices@yahoo.com or Kim.Hoffman@dormontpsychservices.com (encrypted)

Please ensure your camera, microphone and speakers or headphones are enabled and functioning.
